Long Distance Bluegrass brought their traditional bluegrass sound, sprinkled with a little country, blues, and "down home humor" to the home of Linnie and Dave in Crabtree Or. on the evening of Jan. 24, 2026. Linnie and Dave host a series of concerts titled "Waterfalls & Manna" which feature Christian Gospel music, played to a largely Christian audience. The "congregation" on this night may have been a bit taken back at first, wondering where they were headed, as Long Distance launched into their traditional bluegrass numbers like Big Spike Hammer, Man of Constant Sorrow and California Cotton Fields. As always these traditional bluegrass songs speak of life, the love, the heartbreak, the joy and the sorrow. Things we all must face as we take this life journey, and traditional bluegrass does a good job of telling the story, but where can we look for the answers? The scriptures tell us there is but one answer, and that answer is in the person of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. In the book of Romans 9:37 Paul writes, "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." On this night it was traditional bluegrass that asked the questions, but Gospel bluegrass that gave the answers, with stirring renditions on songs like "Banks Of Jordan", "Giving My Soul Back To Him", "New Jerusalem" and "The Solid Rock". By evenings end the answer was clear, and that answer was the same as recorded centuries ago in the Old Testament, book of Isaiah 28:16 "Therefore thus says the Lord God: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily." Yes traditional bluegrass asks the questions but Gospel bluegrass gives the answers.
