The VEX Robotics Competition is designed to foster critical thinking by Middle and High School teams by means of a problem based activity. Students come from different schools and compete in qualifiers to determine their place in the alliance forming period. Teams are then paired together and compete as one team for the full bracket. VEX Robotics Competition Tower Takeover is played on a 12'x12' square field. Two alliances—one "red" and one "blue"—composed of two teams each, compete in matches consisting og a fifteen second Autonomous Period, followed by a one minute and forty-five second Driver Controlled Period. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opening alliance by placing cubes in towers, or scording cubes in goals. Play by play and color commentary provided by Firestone alums Nick Raymond and Maggie Weiss-Vopat. The VEX Robotics Competition was Hosted by Firestone CLC and Project Lead the Way.
