Some songs are like climbing Everest without oxygen. You think it might be a good idea to play them but suddenly they become so huge that they are almost insurmountable. Musically, @sitarandguitar had to condense an array of electronic instruments and a very identifiable ostinato into an acoustic guitar piece. He did it the hard way, because he didn’t leave anything out. And I had to be inspired by Elizabeth Fraser, who was called “the voice of God”, and you don’t call anyone that in vain. Separately, we took the whole song apart, and worked our way up this Everest. No cheating. No oxygen. Here is “Teardrop” by Massive Attack. BTW, this song was originally meant for Madonna, so it’s not only an electronic masterpiece, but also one of the greatest “what ifs” in musical history…
