The round plastic box with beeswax in it in my late mother-in-law's sewing basket was a mystery to me when I first found it. I learned recently that it is a beeswax thread conditioner. I discovered that it is an easy way to wax binding thread. In this video, I wax some heavy cotton thread and use it to bind a booklet in the three-hole pamphlet stitch method. The wax makes the thread smoother and stiffer, which makes it easier to sew the binding. A quick google search for "beeswax thread conditioner" resulted in a number of sources for it. Do you wax your thread for binding? Were you pleased with the results, and do you think it improves the binding? I'd love to hear in the comments about your experience. I hope you enjoyed the video and got some tips for easier journal binding, even in a small way or two.
