Haste the Day, "American Love" *incomplete* (Live at Furnace Fest 9/24/23)

Furnace Fest 2023 was an experience I will always remember, not just because I was lucky enough to catch so many wonderful groups that I've had on my "must-see" list for years, or because it was the furthest I've traveled for music since 2019, but because of this amazing group of humans I befriended over 13 years ago. Since their "final show" in 2011, their reunion in 2015 and these upcoming shows in 2023, I've been so grateful to be recognized and accepted by all 9 members, past and present, at every single show. Haste the Day used to be the soundtrack to my story. A singular experience. It used to be about what the music they created had helped carry me through. The loss, grief and graves I've dug, in my time. As that time has passed, the story has changed significantly. It has become so much more about the people I meet at these gatherings. How interconnected they are by the whole experience. The stories they share. In the crowd, or side of stage, I've met so many fans, band members, artists, and different walks of life whose voices may all sound different, yet the message remains the same: Haste the Day has made a difference, and the world will always welcome their return. With next year's FF2024 billed as the "end of an era", there's still so much to reflect on from 2023's Furnace Festival. So many talents graced all 3 stages, and the common theme amongst them all was gratitude. Grateful to be there, grateful for their established fans, and grateful for those experiencing all of this for the very first time. Being that this was my first time in attendance, I had the opportunity to experience this years festivities without the bias of years-passed influencing how I took it all in, and it's hard to imagine that 2023 wasn't one of the best years Birmingham, Alabama received from FF.
