After a hiatus due to the covid pandemic, the full moon party in Ko Phangan is back in full swing. The Full Moon Party is a bucket-list must do for anyone who visits Thailand. Everyone should check out this raving festivity when traveling in Southeast Asia. The party on the beach shouldn’t be missed and here’s why… Music, beaches, and a whole lot of dancing. The all-night beach party welcomes anywhere from 5,000 to 30,000 people every full moon. One of the biggest backpackers travelling experiences you can encounter. If you're heading to South East Asia, then the full moon party should be somewhere on your schedule. Firstly, you will need to decide if you want to experience this event with a travel agent or organise everything for yourself e.g transport, accommodation, and activities. If you organise the full moon party by yourself, be sure to arrange everything in advance as accommodation gets booked up early. Another option is to book a full moon party tour where you will get a guide, travel in a group, get everything arranged so you only have to worry about having fun. Once you have arrived and are ready to party, there are a few things to know, so, here are my 10 tips on how to survive the experience and make it one of the greatest party you'll ever go to. 1. Get in an afternoon nap. It's going to be a long night, so you want to be able to party all night. The night before, make sure you go to bed late to begin the process of becoming nocturnal. 2. Check out the neon painters. Join the crowds and get your face paint, vest, shorts, accessories and be colourful. The markets are full of neon clothing, so it's easy to find something, but if you want to look individual then try making up your own outfit. Get a plain tee and neon paint to create your own style. 3. Be safe. It’s common-sense stuff but know your friends and always have a home base if you get separated. Unfortunately, there may be people who are out to take advantage of your good will. Keep your belongings close to your body, whether in a bum bag or a tight pocket. 4. Don't get drunk too early. The other thing that could cause you to end up in bed before the night is finished would be too drink too much alcohol too early. Pace yourselves, you have the whole night to party. In Thailand they serve drinks by the bucket, and it can be hard to keep track of how much you're actually drinking. Make sure you line your stomach with a decent meal before starting to drink. Drinking on an empty stomach is definitely not advised. 5. Go to a lookout and take it all in. At some point in the night make sure you get on a roof top bar and look out. Check out the madness and the brightly coloured dancing bodies as far as the eye can see. It will be a surreal view, plus it is a chance to take a deep breath and witness the madness of the full moon party. 6. Check out the length of the beach. Haad Rin beach is not actually that large, so not at all hard to cover. But when you're having such a great time, it can be easy to party in the same spot. The stretch of beaches is lined with bars, dance floors and DJ's. 7. Get involved in some games. As well as dancing there are a lot of different games going on. From shooting hoops to bursting balloons, arm wrestling to dance offs. It’s a fantastic way to meet new people and you might just win yourself a prize. 8. Find the entertainment. There is so much entertainment for you to experience, but it’s also a good time to relax and have a break from drinking and dancing. 9. Watch the sunrise. We all know that time flies when you're having fun, so the sun will probably be up before you know it. 10. Have a hearty breakfast. When you feel it is the time to finally call it a night, make sure you find a place to eat.
