Report Shows Since 2014, 25 Opposition Leaders Facings Corruption Charges Joined BJP

In an investigative report of Indian Express, it has come out that since 2014, as many as 25 prominent politicians who are facing action from the central agencies in alleged corruption cases have jumped into the Bharatiya Janata Party. These leaders were from different parties– 10 are from Congress, 4 each from Maharashtra’s NCP and Shiv Sena, 3 from TMC, 2 from TDP, and 1 each from SP and YSRCP. The investigation has found that in 23 of these cases, the political move of these leaders have translated into reprieve in their cases. 20 cases out of these 23 cases are in cold storage, and 3 three cases have been closed. It has been found that the investigative agency’s action turned into inaction after these politicians switched sides.Opposition has termed this switching sides as ‘washing matching’ by which they mean that once the leaders join the BJP, they don't face legal consequences and come out clean.
