He was born as Jack Michael Antonoff in New Jersey, USA. During his sophomore year of high school he and several friends formed a punk rock band called 'Outline'. Antonoff first sang but soon another member took over the vocals. The band lasted from 1998 to 2002. Then Antonoff and a friend formed a band called 'Steel Train'. In 2008 Nate Ruess asked Antonoff to join him and Andrew Dost in a new band called 'Fun.' They had all toured together so knew each other pretty well. In 2009 they released their debut album 'Aim and Ignite' in 2009. Their breakthrough came in 2012 when the song 'We Are Young' topped the US Hot 100 Billboard charts, as well as the singles chart in the UK, Australia, Canada and Ireland and reached Top 10 all across the globe. Their album 'Some Nights' peaked at #3 in the USA, #4 in the UK and #2 in Australia among other places. The album has been certified triple platinum in the USA, and platinum in Australia, Canada and Ireland. In February 2014 Antonoff announced a solo project called 'Bleachers'. He released the debut album 'Strange Desire' in the same year, which peaked at #11 in the US album charts. The 2nd album 'Gone Now' was released in 2017 and in 2021 the 3rd album 'Take The Sadness Out Of Saturday Night' was released. Antonoff also has worked with the biggest stars as a songwriter and producer, such as Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lorde, P!nk or Troye Sivan just to name a few.
