African Savanna at the Fort Worth Zoo. Filmed March 11 & 13, 2024. In 2011 the Fort Worth Zoo began planning for the Wilder Vision Masterplan that would transform roughly half the zoo. Seven years later, the first phase was completed with the African Savanna. A simple concept with a large multi-species in the middle, and a handful of stand-alone habitats scattered around the outside featuring some of Africa’s largest and smallest creatures. The idea may be simple, but the execution sets the complex apart, with detailed naturalistic habitats brining to life the environments of East Africa. On our trek around the Savanna, we’ll see Giraffes, Antelope, South-Central Black Rhinos, Hippos, and an assortment of African Birds.
