In this video, Adam from Time Warp Custom Paint walks you through the fastest and most effective way to prep surfaces for paint using the LiME LiNE 6-inch scuff pads. Proper prep work is the foundation of any great custom paint job, and today we’ll cover how to handle metal, painted panels, and plastic parts so your next coat of primer, base, or clear sticks flawlessly. We’ll be using two different LiME LiNE scuff pads: • Red (≈600 grit): More aggressive, perfect for bare metal and harder surfaces where you need stronger adhesion. • Gray (≈800 grit): Less aggressive, ideal for painted panels where you want a smoother prep that still ensures proper adhesion for clearcoat or paint. You’ll see exactly how to: • Prep a metal tank using wax and grease remover + red pad for a clean, etched surface. • Scuff a painted panel with the gray pad to create the perfect base for clear adhesion. • Work on a plastic fairing, choosing red or gray depending on hardness—here, we use the red pad to knock down the gloss and ensure primer or adhesion promoter bonds properly. These scuff pads make prepping surfaces fast, easy, and reliable—saving you time while giving you pro-level results. At LiME LiNE, we’re more than just a product brand—we’re painters ourselves. Every tool, every aerosol, every paint system we put out is tested and proven in real custom shops like ours. That’s why you can trust LiME LiNE for both top-quality automotive custom paint supplies and detailed tutorials that help you get the best out of your work. 👉 If you want more custom painting tips, tricks, and product breakdowns, check out my other videos and subscribe to the channel.
