3 gorgeous days hiking through the Tablelands on the South Island of New Zealand Checkout all the gear we use here: https://linktr.ee/chrisanddanya Date hiked: January 2023 Distance: 28 KM Duration: 2-3 days The Tableland Circuit in Kahurangi National Park is the perfect backpacking adventure for beginners or tramping families with kids. Located only 1.5 hours from Nelson, this 28 KM loop has numerous side-trails and places to spend the night so you can shorten or extend your trip as needed. Starting from Flora carpark walk through beautiful beech forest to Flora Hut, continue on to the fascinating Upper and Lower Gridiron rock shelters, emerge from the beech forest onto the stunning open tussock plateau to Salisbury Lodge. From here even more trail options open up, but the classic circuit takes you up and over Gordon's Pyramid and to the junction for Mt Arthur. From here you can turn right to summit Mt Arthur (weather permitting) or turn left to walk down the ridgeline to Mt Arthur Hut, from here it is only a short 4 KM back to Flora carpark. This short circuit features a little bit of everything you could ask for in the Tasman region!
