Howell “Howie” Miller is the owner of Two Buds Dispensary in the Bronx, the borough’s first licensed Jamaican cannabis shop and one of New York State’s earliest legal dispensaries. A Bronx native with a complex past, Howie was formerly incarcerated for marijuana-related offenses but has since transformed his experience into a legitimate business. After receiving a retail cannabis license through New York’s social equity program, he opened Two Buds with the goal of giving back to the same community where his journey began — packaging weed at age 10. Howie proudly calls himself “a good businessman and a terrible criminal,” and now uses his platform to advocate for second chances and economic opportunity through legalization.
