Driving Through the Abandoned Town Grindavik During a Volcanic Eruption

The town was evacuated during the beginning of the newly started eruption but 20-30 people have been living full time the last months and a few hundreds come there to work there every day so the town is just a shadow of it's former self now and it didnt take long to evacuate it. But this was an excellent chance to film it from the ground for a change, show you the houses, how people used to live here and how serious this turned out to be for this fantastic little community that iv'e always cared about since i used to come to work there during many fishing season. I decided to blend in older footage to show you my good old Grindavik, always full with life and a few drone shots plus other images to demonstrate some of the changes. I could only see the Police and a couple of other cars around but drone filming was almost impossible that day due to wind and altitude restriction. This is however just a little part of a bigger project like I do have lots of car footage shot in 360 degrees from November 9th, the day before the everything went downhill when the graben formed, skewed the town and ruined many houses. The population back then was 3800 so those valuable files i have from the last day of the town need lots of care when I process them I do also have drone video where i fly along the fracture and i will made that into a separate video, but my compmlete collection has of course the purpose to create a visual timeline for this worst natural disaster in Iceland since our republic was founded in 1944.
