Explore the tranquil ruins of Creake Abbey in North Norfolk, England — a hidden treasure with deep medieval roots. We arrived in North Norfolk just in time for the *Creake Abbey Farmers Market*, where we picked up some local provisions before heading to our holiday cottage. While there, we took a moment to explore the atmospheric ruins of the abbey itself — a peaceful site steeped in history. Creake Abbey began in *1206* as a chapel founded by Sir Robert and Lady Alice de Nerford. It became a priory in 1217 and was elevated to abbey status by *Henry III in 1225**. The abbey thrived until a devastating fire in the late 15th century and a plague in **1506**, which claimed the life of the last abbot. The site was then granted to **Christ’s College, Cambridge* by Lady Margaret Beaufort, grandmother of Henry VIII. Today, the ruins are managed by English Heritage and open to the public year-round — a perfect spot for history lovers, artists, and peaceful wanderers. 📍 Location: Abbey Farm, North Creake, Norfolk, NR21 9LF 🔗 [Explore Creake Abbey – Official Site](https://www.creakeabbey.co.uk/abbey-r...) 🔗 [Creake Abbey History – English Heritage](https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/v...) 🎥 Watch to see the ruins, the farmers market, and a glimpse of North Norfolk’s charm. #CreakeAbbey #NorthNorfolk #EnglishHeritage #MedievalRuins #AbbeyRuins #HistoricEngland #TravelUK #NorfolkHistory #FarmersMarket #HiddenGemsUK
