ZONES IN RETINOPATHY This video talks about the classification of ROP. To understand the ROP we must understand the ZONES in ROP . The ICROP classified retina into 3 zones ( ZONE 1 , ZONE 2 and ZONE 3 ) ZONE 1 is the most posterior zone , the radius of the circle being twice the distance between the optic nerve and the macula . ZONE 2 is the zone from the edge of the Zone 1 to the periphery of a circle the radius is from the centre of the nerve to the nasal ora serrata. ZONE 3 is the remaining temporal crescent of the retina. ICROP 3 introduced a new concept of the notch, which describes ROP which is present in multiple zones of retina. Such ROP is described as the Zone with most posterior involvement with a suffix ( secondary to notch ) ZONE 2 can be further be divided into ZONE 2 anterior and ZONE 2 posterior.
