This video offers a rare glimpse of the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS), a light infantry battalion, as they carry out an extraordinary quick march through the Highland town of Lochgilphead. 2 SCOTS retains the historic affiliation of the Royal Highland Fusiliers — formed in 1959 from the amalgamation of the Royal Scots Fusiliers and the Highland Light Infantry — and continues the distinguished traditions of both regiments. The Royal Scots Fusiliers, raised in 1678, served in nearly every major British campaign — from the Glorious Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars and the Crimean War to both World Wars and the Gulf War. The Highland Light Infantry traces its lineage to the 71st and 74th Highland Regiments, which fought under Arthur Wellesley at Assaye in 1803 and later at Waterloo in 1815. In 1916, Winston Churchill even commanded a battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers. Together, these ancestral regiments give 2 SCOTS an extraordinary legacy of honour and battle distinctions. Uniquely in the British Army, 2 SCOTS carries the historic Assaye Colour — the only surviving third Colour still paraded by a regular infantry battalion, alongside the King’s Colour and the Regimental Colour. Unlike the Balaklava Company of 5 SCOTS — which carries out ceremonial and state duties — 2 SCOTS is a genuine front-line combat unit. This makes witnessing their traditional Highland Quick March especially rare and meaningful. What you see in this video is not a ceremonial display company, but an operational fighting battalion upholding centuries of Scottish military tradition. You will definitely get chills from the Pipes and Drums of 2 SCOTS in this video, which is led by Drum Major Sergeant Crawford, together with the regiment’s beloved mascot, Corporal Cruachan IV—a super cute Shetland pony. The 2 SCOTS Pipes and Drums performed a few days ago at Windsor Castle in London, before this march, for the welcome ceremony for US President Trump, hosted by King Charles. Then they rushed to this small town in western Scotland to take part in the Freedom of Argyll and Bute march - it was absolutely amazing. You can watch this fantastic performance from this link: https://www.youtube.com/live/f1khjDCN... This video is the second part of the Freedom of Argyll and Bute. The first part, which I published two months ago, was titled After China’s Parade – Watch the SCOTS March with Elegance. It’s definitely worth watching as well: • After China’s Parade – Watch the SCOTS Mar... 👉 If you enjoyed this unique Scottish military experience, please give it a like and share your thoughts in the comments below!
