This commercial villa is designed for a Jakarta-based owner who wanted to bring a familiar way of living into Bali, without losing the island’s character. Located on Jl. Dewi Sri III, Legian, within a dense urban context, the project explores how contemporary Jakarta-style living can be reinterpreted through spatial flexibility, coastal references, and climate-responsive design. One key design decision lies in the first-floor structure. By moving away from a conventional structural grid, the architecture allows certain spaces to project outward, directly influencing the massing and creating a more dynamic facade. This approach results in a building that stands out among its surroundings while maintaining a calm and balanced presence. The facade composition is further strengthened through layered volumes and a magnolia-textured wall finish, responding subtly to light and movement throughout the day. Inspired by beaches and waves, the overall design blends modern lines with softer, fluid gestures, shaping a villa that feels lived in rather than temporary. Rather than functioning purely as a holiday escape, the villa is conceived as a home-oriented commercial residence, rooted in Bali’s climate, yet familiar in how its spaces are experienced and used.
