Top 10 Banks of Pakistan by Profit After Tax (PAT) | 2022

In 2022, Pakistan's listed banks saw a 15% YoY increase in their profits after tax (PAT), reaching an impressive Rs. 307 billion mark. This growth in profitability was mainly due to periodic increases in the policy rate by the State Bank of Pakistan, improving margins from different earning sources. Despite the record high-interest rates, higher provisions and taxation led to a slight slowdown in profit growth. However, pre-tax profitability (PBT) saw a 42% YoY increase, with pre-tax profits before provisioning up by 50%. Out of the 10 leading profitable banks in Pakistan, eight banks reported all-time high profits, while two banks saw a slight decrease in profitability.
