Over nine demanding days across the coasts of France and Belgium, Atlantas Marine joined forces with ECS Special Projects, VideoRay, and Neotek to deliver a series of successful explosive ordnance disposal demonstrations for the Belgian and French Navies. Harsh conditions, strong currents, poor visibility, and challenging target locations tested every aspect of the operation. When our main vessel became unavailable, we switched to a RIB, running entirely from a compact six-hour battery pack. It was a powerful demonstration of the system’s portability and adaptability in the field. The VideoRay Defender, equipped with an Blueprint Subsea Oculus M750D sonar and advanced navigation package, maintained precise positioning throughout, while our pilot Richard Stanley executed complex approaches on simulated anti-invasion mines and drifting IEDs with precision and control. The ECS Special Projects Viper Mine Disposal System, paired with the Atlantas Marine Tornado Firing System, achieved secure and accurate charge placement even in near-zero visibility. The Tornado handled both laser targeting and firing control, providing safe, coordinated activation of the ECS cutter. All objectives were completed safely and efficiently, showcasing the reliability, versatility and integration of the Defender, Viper and Tornado systems across varied marine environments. Our thanks to VideoRay, an AV company, ECS Special Projects, and neotek for their professionalism and collaboration throughout.
