Yes I've been a bit behind with my allotment videos lately and I'm sorry to those of you that have been waiting. I've had some things going on and it meant I needed to take a break for a while. I have watched some videos of everyone's but I am not up to date. I'll explain more in my next video. I hope you like this video about how August was on the plot. There were (still is) lots of weeds and so many beans. Enjoy my look back at early August I've used Bacillus thuringiensis in this video. is a natural occurring, soil-borne bacteria that has been used since the 1950s for natural insect control. It consists of a spore, which gives it persistence, and a protein crystal within the spore, which is toxic to the pests not us. It is harmless to humans, animals and beneficial insects. Amazing right! I can see why they don't call it BT-K which is it's proper title, as it might sound like the murderer. It is used for controlling tent caterpillars, gypsy moth, cabbage looper, tomato hornworm and other leaf eating caterpillars on trees, shrubs, tomatoes and other vegetables. Bt-k is most effective when applied to caterpillars during their 1st and 2nd instars, when they are still small. It must be ingested by the insect, as it is a stomach toxin.
