G'day friends, Welcome to Episode four of 6 days of Suntory Hibiki. Time to step it up a notch with Hibiki 17 Year Old with some background on this whisky and my tasting notes. Kampai Brian Blog: https://www.thejapanesewhiskyreview.com/ Tasting notes for Suntory Hibiki 17 Year Old 43%abv Nose: Chewy malt, barley sugar, butter menthols, toffee, honey, cantaloupe, butter scotch, smooth grain. Palate: Toffee, toffee apples, malt, barley sugar, candied oranges, butter menthols, honey, mixed peel, cashews, cantaloupe, some fizzy candy, the smooth grain, gentle spices, a feint wisp of smoke. Good balance & complexity. Medium bodied. Finish: Butter Menthols, barley sugar, honey, toffee apples, yeast(fresh bread dough), cashews, pipe tobacco, oak. Nicely warming. Medium finish. Last Word: Smooth as quality blend should be but with the character of a single malt. A step up from the 12YO for sure. Begs you to pour another! Rating: 87/100 for the first bottle I bought but later bottles up to 89/100
