In part 2 of this Amiga 500 video I add a second floppy drive to the system and then use NewTek's DigiPaint 3 paint program to demonstrate the Amiga's unique Hold And Modify or HAM graphics mode, which allowed all 4096 colors of the Amiga's palette to be displayed on screen simultaneously. Because of the trick used to display colors outside of the base screen mode's palette of 16 colors, HAM mode had an interesting side-effect known as "fringing," and this video demonstrates HAM fringes and explains what causes them. In Part 3 of this series, I will demonstrate one of the great Amiga games: Lemmings, and the Two Player mode which was somewhat unique to the Amiga version. By the way, Bob Yannes, designer of the SID chip for the Commodore 64, later went on to found ENSONIQ, who made some excellent pro-grade synths. Check out some music made with ENSONIQ gear at http://www.stevesisson.com ... how's that for a smooth segue into a shameless plug?
