The proportion of students awarded top grades has plunged. More than 19,000 students missed the conditions of their offer and are now scrambling to find a place via clearing. The pass rate fell to 93.7%, now the lowest level since 2008. The students awarded an A or A* grade is down 10% from 2022. Education Secretary Gillian Keegan has been criticised for saying that in 10 years time no one will care about A-levels.
