Hi Welcome to our channel/ To day we answer the question:- What is Breast Augmentation? Who needs it? Breast Augmentation or Breast Enhancement or Breast enlargement surgery or breast implant surgery - these are all names given to the same procedure. The procedure is basically to increase the volume and size of the breast, if they have not developed properly and to give you a better sense of fullness and a better sense of balance to the body. In nature you see things appear to be in balance. When something is not in balance then you notice that there is something that could be changed. The balance comes from proportions, there has to be a relative proportion between one thing to the next to know whether is it bigger or smaller. Similarly in the body, so if breasts are smaller in proportion to your shoulders, body structure, your height or your butt, then that is when it starts looking odd. For example somebody lean and thin and petite and short, too big breasts are not needed because it will look out of balance. Similarly who is tall with broad shoulders or hips, too small breasts might not look good. Hence it has to be individualised according to your body structure or your needs. The procedure basically is to put in a silicone implant or your own fat to increase the volume and enhance the bust. That is what in lay man's terms is what is called a Breast implant surgery or breast augmentation surgery. If it is your own fat we have to take it from another area of your body, we have to isolate it and inject it back. If its an implant we have to measure your chest, we have to see what size of an implant will fit into your chest and then do the surgery. The surgery is pretty simple and straightforward when done by trained plastic surgeons. But, if you go to untrained people you have issues like mismatch of size, implants not in the right position and other issues as well. So, Do your research, get your understand, find out what you need and then take a call. As far as question, who are the people who need breast augmentation? The first is for people who see their body and know that something is not right because its out of proportion, the breasts are not proportionate to the size of your shoulders or your height or your hips. So , we have to see you as a Whole and then we can do your procedure. We prefer not to do it before 21 years as your growth is still going unless there are extenuating circumstances we prefer to wait. Secondly, the other subset of people who come in for breast augmentation are post pregnancy or childbirth. In fatty breasts post breast feeding and pregnancy, the fat gets replaced with the glands. Once the pregnancy and breast feeding is over the glands go back to normal size but the fat which was replaced doesnt come back. This leads to a sag or emptiness. The more fatty the breast initially , more the sag. The less fatty the breast initially, less the sag. It can be done in between kids as well or maybe after you have completed your family. But sometimes when done later we might have to add another additional breast lift procedure along with it in case the sag is too much. The third set of population we do breast augmentation is for post cancer reconstructions. When you have a breast cancer the breast has been removed, nowadays detections are earlier and people are move aware of it, we are lumpectomies and smaller portions of breasts are removed rather than the whole breast. Many a time we can remove the breast and still preserve the skin capsule. These are the ind of cases where we can do an Implant reconstruction. We do something called a flap and to cover it and we use an implant inside to give you the volume and balance it out with the opposite breast. These are some of the main indications of who needs a breast augmentation. But, it is a very individualistic procedure, its not the same and cannot use the same size or look for everyone. Hence your input is very important when talking to your surgeon. You have to do your research, you have to understand the procedure, to understand what size you want, what kind of a look you are looking for and that will help your surgeon decide what is right for you. So, you have to take a very active role in deciding the size and what kind of a look you are going for. Whether you need cleavage, whether you need fullness, you want side fullness rather than perkiness or whether you want perkiness. There are lot of factors to consider. So, make a call & decide according to what is necessary for you and work it out with ur plastic surgeon and explain it to him so that he can understand and give you the best result possible.
