Why Tapered Ball Nose Bits? - Part 34 - Aspire and VCarve For Absolute Beginners More down here ↓↓↓ Click SHOW MORE! This is the 34th in a series of videos geared toward the person who has never worked with CAD or CAM in the Vectric Software before. In this video, we’ll start an examination of Tapered Ball Nose Bits for 3D Carving. Tapered Ball Nose Bits (TBN) are fantastic for 3D carving, but they’re also very pricey when compared to standard ball nose bits. Enough so, that I get asked whether or not they’re actually necessary for 3D carving. In this video, I’ll show you some of the basic differences between a TBN bits and a standard ball nose bit. We’ll get into why you would want to use a TBN, and when. We’ll take a look at some design considerations you’ll need to take into account, then go over toolpath strategies to discuss why I tend to use a Raster Strategy over an Offset Strategy. I’ll then show you the easiest way I’ve found to enter a TBN into your Vectric Tool Database, and we’ll go over the various criteria you’ll need to know to enter the tool into your tool database. I’ll even wade through the whole “feeds and speeds” minefield, and give you my unsolicited opinion. As usual, if you have any comments or questions about anything I covered in this video, please put ‘em in the comment section below. On Sunday, October 27th, I’ll be hosting a LIVE Q&A session, where you can ask your questions pertaining to anything I covered in this video. That Q&A starts at 3 pm Eastern time, Noon Pacific time. Hope to see you there! Here’s a link to the Live Q&A: • Live Q&A #10 - Why Tapered Ball Nose ...
