The Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada Giant Floor Map is unlike any other educational resource available in Canada. Developed in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Actions, this resource offers teachers and students the opportunity to explore the past, present and future of Indigenous Peoples in Canada like never before. Recognizing that the stories are not ours to tell, the Royal Canadian Geographical Society collaborated with Indigenous educators and organizations from across Canada to develop this map, including the Assembly of First Nations, the Métis National Council, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and Indspire. No other map exists like it. This Giant Floor Map is 8.5 by 11 metres in size, big enough to fill a gymnasium. It has layers upon layers of information that highlight the complexity of Indigenous histories and the diversity of cultures among Métis, Inuit and First Nations peoples living in Canada.
