"Forefront Apex" by ZhenAxel

ZhenAxel has been one of the more prominent creators that I've had the great pleasure of seeing develop their signature modern style, with a great choice for songs that fit his general criteria for modern levels. he has developed a tasteful way of executing color palettes in seemingly "simple" designs that end up being rather charmful, high quality and very well executed — there is no lack of contort in his projects either, which only represents his consistency and overall care he'd put to his levels, and Forefront Apex is no exception to this rule. so, Forefront Apex is one of the creator's more high-quality projects in regard to creativity and execution. this level begins in a similar tone as most of his previous projects tend to be, however, with a more energized song choice right off the bat. the first few sections feature a bright blue color scheme, wth red accents featured in the saws and rather minimalistic-looking designs. the way most of the airdeco is laid out in this level really amps up the general quality of it, not only that, it compliments spectacularly with the laid out designs in this part, with an interesting mix of glow added to it in the pulses. the following ball section follows the same ideas as the previous, but this time with a more darker color scheme, where the designs are the main focus of the part, so nothing too bad for that regard. the second half onward feature vertical gradients with white spots between them, seemlingly giving a sense of variation to the background and the actual designs following a black palette to it, with minimal details to them. I personally believe that the way this level lays out the aforementioned concepts is very well made, with no room for empty spaces either. the contrast of all colors is well balanced, the parts are kept out interestingly, and it's such an original concept that I can't help but feel this is one of the creator's best parts across their previous projects, and my personal favorites. at the end, the creator credits Vrymer for the gradient inspiration, which can be referenced as one of the same creator's aforementioned projects, "Eternelle Vehemence". to which, I can definitely see the resemblance, however I strongly believe that the execution represents how original a part is, and how memorable it can be, which is what I consider as one of the more important factors any level may take into account. it can be considered a stretch for someone like me to say that the gradient section of this level is an "original concept", however I believe that the execution makes up for that branding. all in all, I am personally pleased by how well done this level is. ZhenAxel has never disappointed me for all of the levels he had the pleasure of building, and this is no exception. I believe this level could get epic, based on all of the previously mentioned aspects and qualities. at the time of reviewing this level, Forefront Apex received a featured rating, a high position in the featured tab, and is currently daily.
