This video is the last in the series of building my C4 transmission for my 775hp Ford 351 Cleveland. This video shows the basics of taking apart the C4 front pump, what to look for in regards to damage or worn parts. Also changing the front pump seal. You will see, that in the first attempt at installing the front seal the retainer spring pops out. I have never had this happen on any type of these seals in anything I have installed them in. Paul Adomatis told me he has seen it a few times. He places transmission assembly lube, or Vaseline in where the spring is to prevent this. I thought the seal was old, and said pass, and installed a new one. this pump has a turbo 350 roller bearings, at the base of the stator, but still uses the factory thrust washer at the stator were the Teflon pump rings insert into the direct, and forward drums. I also changed them, remember, there two sizes of grooves in the stator, early are 0.095, and the later are 0.125, do not just go by color. This front pump, has the C6 bushing installed. Paul told me that is not the great thing, that people, including myself used to install. He said that is does support convertor like it was thought too, and also can affect the path of oil flow. I am not changing it this time. Make sure pump gears have lube so they don't dry start.
