How to Fix Stick Drift in a PS4 DualShock Controller

My son recently started using his old PS4 controllers while playing Apex Legends on his CLX gaming PC. He prefers using a controller because the aim assist is pretty forgiving in Apex so the movement he gets with the controller outweighs the slight loss of accuracy when aiming versus using a mouse and keyboard. These controllers are over 10 years old now and both of his have stick drift issues. First I attempted to fix the red controller and made a critical mistake pulling out the first ribbon cable, essentially bricking the controller. For my second attempt I rewatched my guide video and realized that I was supposed to just pull the ribbon out of the socket and not remove the sleeve protecting the pins. After successfully getting the controller apart I was able to clean the stick sensors with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol and put the whole thing back together after a quick cleaning of the whole controller with iFixit Screen Saver., we tested the controller and declared the stick drift fixed!
