What to Expect 🔍 At a given point, the "Extreme Simplicity" mission will take you to the Ward complex known as the "Scientific Institute for Research of the Chornobyl Anomalous Area", where - eventually - you'll get a new mission called: Wishful Thinking. And this story mission represents the first REAL point of no return in Stalker 2! You’ll have to make an important decision that locks you into one of the two major factions — Ward or Noontide and Spark -, and more importantly, a decision that will influence not only the ending of the game, but will also change the entire Zone and the upcoming missions. The story-altering decision itself, and getting different missions based on your choice is a good thing of course, but the problem lies elswehere. The problem is that there is no warning regarding the point of no return, and once you you are in, you can't get out anymore. The only way to gat back to the Zone, is by choosing a side and completing the Wishful Thinking mission. And regardless of your choice, there will be SERIOUS consequences! First of all, no matter what you decide, some things will change in the Zone. Zalissya base will be lost and the Ward abandons the location. The Ward also abandons the Slag Heap, while the safe zone still remains. Monolith soldiers will spawn everywhere patroling many previously safe locations. The Noontide base on Wild Island will also be lost permanently. And that's just the beginning. Siding with Noontide essentially sides you with Spark — the underground terrorist faction. You’ll gain a new base in the Rostok region outside the Rostok trainyard settlement controlled by Freedom. You’ll lose access to all Ward bases — Icarus, the Chemical Plant and STC Malachite are all permanently blocked off, Ward becomes hostile to you, and the Noontide faction is destroyed. If you side with the Ward, the Spark faction will become hostile to you, the Spark base in Rostok will be locked off, and you’ll keep access to all Ward bases, the Icarus, the Chemical Plant and the STC Malachite will remain safe places. Needless to say, you'll also lose all the side missions, stashes, and everything else in the affected locations and areas. In my opinion, the developers made a huge mistake here, not giving us a clear warning regarding the no return point and the possible consenquences. So hear me out: if you want to fully explore all the settlements, the locations, and the entire map that is available to you at this point, you should definitely save the WISHFUL THINKING mission for later!
