In the second part of the video, how to make a powerful power supply with voltage regulation, explains the principle of stabilization and regulation of the output voltage based on a zener diode and a transistor. The simplest voltage regulator is the zener diode. However, it is used in low-power power units - up to several watts. To increase the output power, or more precisely the current, a bipolar transistor is used, which is included in the scheme with a common base. Such a circuit is called an emitter follower. In this case, only current amplification is performed, and the output voltage remains almost equal to the input voltage. Therefore, a powerful power supply with voltage regulation should contain a bipolar transistor with a high current gain. In addition, it must have a voltage reserve and withstand the maximum design current.
