'I Can't Escape Myself' by 'The Sound' is the opening track from the band's classic debut album 'Jeopardy', which was first released in November 1980 and then reissued in 2002. 'The Sound' formed in South London in 1979, shortly after Adrian Borland's band 'The Outsiders' had dissolved. It isn't a very well-distributed fact, but 'The Outsiders' 1977 LP 'Calling on Youth' was the first self-released British punk LP, issued roughly four months after the Buzzcocks infamous Spiral Scratch 7". Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter 'Adrian Borland' led 'The Outsiders' through a couple of other releases, but the band sputtered out three years after their 1976 formation. The Sound were a great and underappreciated post punk band, that were around in the early 80's. Lyrics: So many feelings Pent up in here Left alone I'm with The one I most fear I'm sick and I'm tired Of reasoning Just want to break out Shake off this skin I can't escape myself All my problems Loom larger than life I can't swallow Another slice Seems like my shadow Marks every stride Can't learn to live with What's trapped inside I can't escape myself So many feelings Pent up in here Left alone I'm with The one I most fear I'm sick and I'm tired Of reasoning Just want to break out Shake off this skin I can't escape myself This video is a tribute to a classic timeless track by the 1980's post-punk band 'The Sound' and one of the best film makers of our day 'David Lynch'. Having just revisited Lynch's classic 'The Grandmother' the other evening and then having the tunes on random play, on came the classic 'I Can't Explain Myself' by 'The Sound' so MLUTV put this video together as a tribute to both 'The Sound' and 'David Lynch'.
