(The) Bay Horse - named after a pub in Otley, and written by Wharfedale Wayzgoose. Its almost certainly been modified a little by us. About Us We Are a mixed-gender morris dance team, based in the Bracknell and Wokingham area. We follow the "Border Morris" tradition from the English side of the Welsh border - mainly the counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire Our year is usually spent like this: September-April Tuesday evenings - teaching new members, new dances, and practicing May-July weekday evenings (usually Tuesdays) - dancing at pubs in our area April-September weekends - dancing at festivals and local events Oxford Folk Festival 19th-21st April 2024 Like a phoenix from the flames, or perhaps more like a duckling that dreams of becoming a swan, members of the former volunteer committee are continuing the folk festival after the sad demise (after a brilliant decade) of Oxford Folk Weekend. We are now, with Tim Healey's permission, the Oxford Folk Festival 2024. We have a domain name (oxfordfolkfestival.org.uk) and even a nascent website, thanks to donated time from Jack Evans. This year we are ALL volunteers, as there is no budget, but we have been heartened by the generosity of our many supporters who have decided to donate their time as performers or behind-the-scenes helpers to make this event a success. Be assured that as usual, the streets will be full of colour and music from the morris dancers, while key locations in the centre of town will be showcasing our Oxford and Oxon performers.
