'This is the day' was commissioned in 2011 by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey, as a wedding gift for Prince William and Kath Middleton. John Rutter writes: 'I wanted to write music which would be welcoming in spirit to the royal couple, their families, and to the many people witnessing this happy occasion all over the world.' John Rutter, English composer and conductor, is associated with choral music throughout the world. His recordings with the Cambridge Singers (the professional chamber choir he set up in 1983) have reached a wide global audience, many of them featuring his own music in definitive versions.
