Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Tekonsha Prodigy P3 proportional trailer brake controller and this CURT Echo under-the-dash Bluetooth proportional trailer brake controller. Now, recently, we've received some queries regarding these two brake controllers, specifically how they compare and contrast with one another and why you would want one over the other. So during our time together, I hope to answer some of those questions that you might have pertaining to these two trailer brake controllers. Now both of these brake controllers are going to activate the brakes on your trailer in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. So in case you don't know, proportional braking means that your trailer brakes are going to mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. For instance, if you slam on the brakes in your truck, your trailer brakes are going to activate with the same intensity, then if you brake lightly in your truck, your trailer brake will break lightly as well. Now the trailer's braking in proportion to your vehicle's braking is going to help save wear and tear on your tires on both of the vehicle and the trailer, as well as their brakes. And both of these controllers are going to work with trailers up to four axles and eight brake assemblies. And you're gonna be able to easily swap out different trailers with the same vehicle. So these controllers are going to be great if you regularly tow more than one trailer with the same vehicle because they offer multiple different trailer profiles in which you can save certain settings based on each trailer that you're towing in these brake controllers. Now, as we take a closer look here, let's take a look at the Prodigy P3 first. This is going to be a more traditional controller. And as you can see here, this features large accessible buttons. It's gonna make it very easy to operate. You're gonna be able to switch between three different levels of boost and adjust braking output and navigate the menu. And it has this handy rotary-style lever on the underside of the unit here. That's going to keep the manual override within easy reach. And this has a a customizable easy-to-read LCD display that's gonna give you braking status at a glance. And this also features built-in safeguards to protect your vehicle, your trailer, and the controller. And this also is going to run continuous diagnostic checks to alert you to problems as they come up. This is gonna prevent your trailer brakes from overheating by reducing the power output during prolonged stops. And this also has automatic leveling that's going to let you mount this at any angle, up or down, for easy installation. And installation's gonna be very easy with this. This unit will install in your cab using the included brackets. Right now, we have this quick-release bracket that's here that's gonna mount with this smaller one here underneath your dash. Or you could remove this bracket and use a more permanent bracket for installation. That's also included. So it's pretty flexible in the way that you would want to install this. And then both of these trailer brake controllers can be installed with the included pigtails, and you would just hardwire one end into your vehicle and then plug the other end into the back of your trailer brake controller. But there's also an option for most vehicles of a vehicle-specific wiring adapter that you could find using our fit guide here at etrailer.com. And so you would be able to perhaps find a pigtail that would work with your vehicle so you wouldn't have to hardwire these into your vehicle.
