It's that time again for a new episode of Chichuki Plays, the show where I go hands-on with upcoming games and show them off. Usually, it's about an hour or so but I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. This time we're looking at the Haunted Lands demo on Steam. Fans of retro action platformers will want to check in on this one. At the start of the game, you have a few characters to pick from. I went with the Veteran to start and then we unlock more the further we got into the adventure. You'll be able to equip new artefacts for your build to make things easier. By the looks of things, you have a backpack-like storage system where your artefacts go so you can pack enough if you can hold them. You're able to aim up and on an angle and there were times where I was having trouble lining up my shot. You can also attack with a melee like attack when enemies get too close. There are certain enemies that you have to melee so pay attention. You'll discover new things in the playthrough as you progress so keep on guard. I found the Ranger, my favorite character, by finding her on the map. You can also use Wrath attacks, sort of like a special attack if things look bad. These will overpower the enemies. You can auto reload but that is pretty slow so keep an eye on ammo. You can reload manually as that's faster and that could be the best way to avoid damage. It's an interesting take on the action platformer The graphics for the game remind me a lot of an old DOS game but retro is the new trendy, right? I'm looking forward to seeing what the game looks like going forward. We also livestream on Twitch and have a merch store so check it out. Check out the Twitch channel- / chichuki
