Title: 'Step Up to Masters', an online resource that supports successful transition to master’s level study at Leeds University. Live session date - 29th March 2022 Presenters: Jiani Liu, Learning Advisor at University of Leeds Libraries and Dan Pullinger, Learning Development Manager at University of Leeds Libraries and University Student Education Fellow. Description: Transition to Master’s level study can be challenging for students. They can be unsure of what is expected of them and institutions may hold inaccurate assumptions about their capabilities on arrival. This can manifest in a heavy demand from this cohort on library and academic support services. In 2020 Leeds University Library won the Digital Award for Information Literacy 2020 for their Step Up to Masters resource which is designed to meet the audience’s diverse needs in key academic skills including independent learning, critical thinking and managing information. Jiani and Dan will be talking about the research behind the resource, what they learnt about student’s preferences for academic development methods and future plans for Step Up to Masters. There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions and in advance of the event you may wish to read their recent article on the project, published in the Journal of Information Literacy.
