Hurray, another new mission. This time it’s rain instead of clear skies, and visibility is terrible. I move slowly and perform an INU Fix. At least there’s no surprise attack before reaching the fix point. As I approach the third waypoint, I get a warning and immediately start evasive maneuvers. I create some distance, hide behind trees, and try to locate whoever is lasing me. I send my wingman on a recon task. He finds a target, so I press the Ingress button and slave the Shkval to it. Climbing slightly, I finally spot a vehicle through the rain. In these conditions, finding anything is incredibly difficult. It’s actually a great challenge. Then the rain intensifies even more, making target spotting almost impossible. Suddenly I get a warning from my 9 o’clock. Another column of vehicles is approaching from that direction. I manage to destroy one of them, and then I see something terrifying on the Shkval — a missile flying straight toward me. Where did they fire it from? From behind the trees? The impact is head-on. The pilot is killed instantly, but somehow the helicopter settles down gently instead of crashing violently. A strange and dramatic ending.
