Where soldiers fire muskets, musicians play fifes and drums, blacksmiths hammer iron, Natives sing and cannons boom, you are there, learning history while being part of its retelling. Old Fort Niagara is located where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario, in a strategic location called “the key to the continent.” The country in command (French, British, American) controlled access to the resources of the inner continent from the 1700s through early 1800s. Since 1927, the site has been operated by the Old Fort Niagara Association, a not-for-profit organization. History is alive today and every day, waiting to embrace you with its stories and people.
