Ian Reviews the Pukas 69er Step Down INNCA Surfboard: https://www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/pu... Now available in an exciting new tech; the Pukas 69er Step Down surfboard in INNCA construction looks absolutely incredible and has the performance to match! Pukas surfboards using INNCA or Innegra Carbon technology are constructed with EPS Foam, Epoxy Resin and the Innegra Carbon High Performance Enhancing Frame. The EPS Stringerless foam blank has 4oz fibreglass on the deck and is laminated with Epoxy resin and then INNCA tape forms the unique frame around the deck giving strength and a balanced flex. The bottom also has 4oz glass and has a UD (uni-directional) carbon tape running from nose to tail. Innegra tech improves the impact resistance and damage tolerance while significantly reducing weight over regular PU construction surfboards. This construction delivers huge return...all the power you apply through your turns is rewarded with a "zingy" feedback powering you into your next manoeuvre. The 69er Step Down has been introduced to give some lower end performance to the Original Sixty Niner for when the conditions are smaller and not so hollow. We've all seen Kepa Acero ripping on his Original Sixtyniner but we're not all blessed with head-high barrelling waves on tap. It was soon apparent that some tweaking to the Original would enhance it's lower end performance and at the same time make the Step Down a more accessible shortboard for the average guy. Essentially the board has been squashed down, so shorter and wider in the tail with a little more "meat" where it’s needed helping it plane over flatter sections and maintain speed in mushier waves. The 69er Step Down was designed by Frenchman, Axel Lorentz who is a Pukas master shaper with experience well earned and deserved through almost 20 years experience mowing foam. The Frenchman, now based in Olatu, Pukas’s Factory, has a collection all of his own. Got any surf related questions? Need some advice on a new surfboard?
