Self-pity is one of those things that is hard to see in yourself because it's not something you want to recognize. But you have to recognize it in order to deliberately change it. Self-pity happens when we start feeling bad about feeling bad. You make your own negative emotional experience worse by feeling about about it. It's okay to feel bad. Life is 50/50. Half of the time it will be negative. When we start thinking of ourselves as victims of our circumstances, then self-pity begins to surface. Self-pity turns into feeling sorry for ourselves and taking the action of quitting or giving up on something. Which then perpetuates and we feel even more sorry for ourselves because it didn't work out. I want you to decide what you want to feel. Do you want to feel motivated, excited, and ready?
