It's 1559 and one of the most powerful families in Welsh history is threatened by a scandal. Queen Elizabeth I herself orders the arrest of Sir Henry Stradling for 'Mass Mongering'. Despite his powerful position Henry finds his declaration of a cross appearing in a tree on his estate "a miracle". The Queen believes he has done so to promote Catholicism and all hell breaks lose as a consequence.
