Mastodon is an American heavy metal band that has been active since 2000. The band was formed after Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher (who were both members of Lethargy) met the other members during a performance of High on Fire. Mastodon was originally a five-piece band, but Eric Saner left the band just before they went on tour. As a result, both Troy and Brent took over the vocals, with Bill taking on the backing vocals. From 2009 Brann also took on part of the vocals. The band has now released 8 albums & 7 EPs. They also released splits with a.o. High on Fire, Avenged Sevenfold & Deftones.
