Ohio Crisis Academy - Crisis Response for LGBTQ+ Populations March 2022

The Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities (OACBHA), in partnership with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) and the Great Lakes Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC), hosted a Crisis Response for LGBTQ+ Populations webinar on Friday, February 25, 2022. This Academy addresses the criticality for the crisis continuum to be responsive to the unique needs of the at-risk LGBTQ+ population. Additionally, the webinar focuses on crisis services for the LGBTQ+ population, understanding identity and normalizing the use of pronouns, safety planning, and provide resources for non-familial social support while noting the importance of allyship. The Association works with a variety of governmental bodies including the Ohio General Assembly, the Office of the Governor, other statewide office holders, cabinet agencies, partner associations, and along with individuals in recovery and their families. OACBHA works to provide education, develop policies, and seek support for initiatives that will expand and enhance mental health and substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery support services throughout Ohio.
