Bipasha, 1962 Director: Agradoot (a collective active during that period) Music Director: Robin Chatterjee Lyrics: Gouri Prasanna Majumdar Playback: Sandhya Mukherjee Cast: Uttam Kumar, Suchitra Sen, Jiben Bose, Lily Chakravarty, Ketaki Dutta, Chhabi Biswas, Chhaya Devi, Pahadi Sanya A boy and girl meet and slowly fall in love. But it turns out each has a very dark past and on his wedding day Dibendu's (Uttam Kumar) past reveals itself to his horror and he disappears. His lady love (Suchitra Sen) sets out to track him down and make things right. from the Wikipedia article on the film: "This film become a blockbuster hit and ran for over 80 days in theaters. This is one of the biggest hits of the Uttam/Suchitra pair. The film become highest grossing Bengali film in 1962." After a lot of work the video is mostly okay. The audio, on the other hand, even after a lot of work, still has problems. The main problem was the whole thing sounded "hollow" or that it takes place in a cave. it sounds much better now, although there are still a few places with the problem. In addition, the filter used took out some of the music, To make it sound less peculiar I removed a lot of music between dialog. You might hear music during dialog which then disappears until the next line is spoken. A little strange sounding, but nothing like the way it originally sounded. You can compare with a couple of other versions here on YouTube to understand what I mean. English subtitles are included.
