The Indus Raag Project is an Award-winning project showcasing Indian/Pakistani classical, folk and world music at its best! The first album of the series, Indus Raag (sub-titled Music Beyond Borders) was Pakistan’s first ever entry for the 57th Grammys. It also earned a Gold Medal from the Global Music Awards (June 2016). “Indus Raag 2 – Karachi Concerts” is a continuation of the musical journey began in the first volume - featuring 65 musicians from Pakistan, India, UK, Germany, France, Turkey and around the world, including the legendary Ustad Rais Khan Sitarnawaz, Grammy-winning artist Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Ustad Naseeruddin Saami, Gundecha Brothers, Ashraf Sharif Khan, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Ustad Abdul Sattar Tari Khan, Sam Carter, the Caravan Quartet, Julian Joseph, Abaji, Simon Thacker and many others. Indus Raag 2 is a soundscape of Karachi. Home to several communities and diverse ethnicities, the city of Karachi evolved from a small coastal village (Kolachi) to become a major cosmopolitan economic and cultural hub of Pakistan. As recorded document, “Indus Raag” captures the melodic flavours unique to the spirit of the city. Indus Raag project has been produced by writer, culture revivalist, and internationally acclaimed curator/producer of classical, folk and world music Sharif Awan. Sharif is a voting member of the NARAS. He recently produced the song "Gulsher" (a tribute to the martyred APS School children) for the internationally released album, ACTION MOVES PEOPLE UNITED sponsored by UNESCO. The box set contains 6 Audio CDs, a DVD and a booklet with more than ten hours of exotic music – audios & videos.
