Date filmed: Saturday the 9th of November 2024 Video filmed at 09:57 Route: Trowell to Kirkby Line Closest timing point: Pinxton (on Real Time Trains) Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: Station Road, Selston (NG16 6FH) A level crossing located between Pinxton and Selston on a lesser-used line right on the border between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The level crossing gets its name from Pinxton (Derbyshire), but is believed to only just come under Nottinghamshire despite what a sign on its approach from the south would have you believe. It's a fairly standard, slightly more modern install controlled from a nearby Signal Box at Sleights, and sits at the site of Pinxton and Selston Station, of which nothing remains. Other than seasonal track-cleaning trains (which actually run daily in leaf-fall season on runs to/from Worksop via Mansfield), this crossing's only regular users are the last train of the night and a very early pair of empty stock movements to Mansfield, and this is to keep drivers' route retention fresh as this line is a diversionary line when the Robin Hood Line south of Kirkby becomes closed or blocked. Otherwise, the line sees very sparse usage during the day. One of these track-cleaners is featured in this video, and you'll see I filmed it on its return at another crossing on this lesser-used line. Trains featured: Lowering - 0:00 - 66 060 & 66 161 (DB Cargo UK) Rail Head Treatment Train - 2:29 3J84 Stapleford & Sandiacre ➡ Toton T.M.D. (via Crewe, Worksop, and Lincoln) | 2 minutes late - End-of-video picture showcase: 3:05 Train details sourced from: Real Time Trains: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sear...
