Also known as gravity flow racks, these storage systems are a multi-deep, high-density solution with first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory management. In these systems, pallets are loaded into the rear of the rack. Using gravity, slightly inclined roller lanes enable pallets to flow at a control pace to the front of the system, until reaching the pallet stop. While the system is loaded from behind, forklifts can pick pallets from the front, allowing new pallets to flow to the front of the system onto picking position. This design allows for maximum storage density for a given footprint – ideal for high volume warehouses. Pallet flow systems are commonly used for high inventory turnover operations like the food and beverage industry or any high volume, low sku operation..
