When they talk about bunga-bunga parties, well that was a very innocent thing. It meant that finally, after 15 days of work, let''s get together and have a gossip, let''s get together and be happy, and I like to sing, to talk about what I do, and then let''s dance a bit." 9. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Silvio Berlusconi, Italian Prime Minister: "This austerity package has been finally voted in by the Senate and has had an immediate impact on the markets, the stock exchanges recovered right after that and the spread recovered, too. Wide of Berlusconi leaving Atreju meeting surrounded by cameras STORYLINE: Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi told members of the Young Italy movement that he nearly resigned as Italian premier due to a feeling of betrayal over NATO''s actions against his friend, deposed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. "When we decided to participate in the NATO coalition, on that night I considered resigning as a way of staying true to my relationship and my feelings of friendship towards Gadhafi," Berlusconi said. He addressed many national and international issues on Friday at the annual youth meeting of his party in Rome, including the widely-debated austerity budget measures, and his allegedly wild private lifestyle, including the now infamous ''bunga-bunga'' parties. Berlusconi was speaking to the youth branch of his party, People of Freedom, and answered questions from the moderator Giorgia Meloni, Minister of Youth Policy, and from the floor. When a young woman asked him if it would have been an error to have such close and friendly diplomatic relations with Gadhafi, Berlusconi answered that his government made no mistakes, but just worked for the political interests of the country. Berlusconi also commented on the recently approved austerity package to reach a balanced budget by 2013. He also had a dig at "leftist judges" for his entanglement in an underage prostitution case, and professed his innocence.
