This Memorial Day, take the kids outside for a modified Murph Memorial Day workout for kids. This workout features variations of pushups, squats and running drills, and is a great PE fitness activity for PE teachers, coaches, and parents. No equipment required! The standard CrossFit Murph workout is a very structured adult workout for time, but in our version of a Murph workout for kids, we have exercises ranging from 20 to 30 seconds, with a few 10 second rests in between. The actual workout is only about five minutes, so for a longer Memorial Day workout, run through it two or three times! If the "Murph" WOD CrossFit workout is new to you, it's a workout challenge that people do every Memorial Day in honor and memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005. This was one of the go-to workouts for Murphy, and since his death, it has evolved into something much more — a workout done by fitness enthusiasts around the country as a way to remember our fallen war heroes.
